Sitpi Gives Back

Sitpi Academy is a strong believer in giving back, empowering women, ensuring accessibility to education to children, building communities and uplifting the lives of those under the severe poverty line in Ealam. Sitpi collaborates with AYYAPPAN ILLAM and NESAKARANGAL to execute these initiatives and projects in Eelam. In the rural Batticalo district, homes have been built for families living in poverty. In the Northern provinces of Eelam, Women Empowerment Projects have been completed and are continuously in progress, computer training centres and sewing centers and stores have been opened. Bicycles have been donated for students who live in considerable distance from schools; essential school supplies are provided to those identified to be in need; and yoga classes are in session virtually on a weekly basis, all at no cost.

Within such a short period of time, thousands of our Eelam families have benefited from these initiatives, and continue to be empowered and using these facilities and opportunities to uplift their current living conditions. Sitpi's charitable efforts are not solely limited Eelam, as Sitpi also participates heavily in fundraising activities for charities closer to home in Canada as well.

With a dedicated team of young instructors who are children of first generation immigrants in Canada, Sitpi Academy proudly sets the stage for taking TAMIL to the next generation. Sitpi may have been a founder's dream, but with the visionary and selfless team we have now grown into, it has become the ultimate aspiration for all.

Sitpi Academy strongly believes in giving back to the community, whether it be the less fortunate Eelam Tamils or our local Canadian charities. Thus far, Sitpi has donated proceeds from students tuition fees towards children homes in affected rural Eelam areas, built homes for the families under severe poverty in rural areas in Batticalo, Srilanka (Matakalapu) and participated in fundraising activities with the South Asian Autism Awareness Centre (SAAAC) and the SickKids Foundation. Sitpi will continue its philanthropic efforts in our homeland and will continue to serve charities close to home in Canada.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT IN EELAM

Sitpi Academy, in collaboration with Nesakkarangal, have been working on projects related to women’s empowerment, ensuring accessibility to education, and building communities, working to uplift the lives of those under the severe poverty line in the northeastern province of our Eelam.

Our founder had the opportunity to personally visit these women groups in the affected areas of Eelam in January 2023, where, on behalf of Nesakkarangal, she initiated the women empowerment projects and laid the foundation for many more current and upcoming projects.

These women groups each consit of 10 to 15 members from each village in the northeast provinces. Each group is donated 25,000 rupees, and these funds will be used to assist other women and village members, through initiatives such as supporting small businesses and startups in the area. This will allow them to multiply their initial investment and significantly improve their living condition. There are currently 100 groups, with a long term plan for 400 groups by 2027. This project has created countless opportunites for these women, and has uplifted and continues to improve their lives significantly.
